Video: Cannabis Chemistry
The latest film in ESPN Films and FiveThirtyEight’s series “The Collectors” is “Cannabis Chemist,” directed by Jamie Schutz.
Most cannabis lovers are well aware of the different cannabinoids such as THC and CBD. But this video takes it further, highlighting the work of a chemist who teaches the complexities of cannabis to the parents across the nation who are trying to craft the best medicine for their suffering children.
In “The Cannabis Chemist,” FiveThirtyEight and ESPN Films profile Chris Hudalla, an analytical chemist who specializes in testing cannabis in order to help families battling diseases such as multiple sclerosis and seizures with medical marijuana.
In this short but beautiful video, Hudalla details how some of the mothers he has worked with to breed very high-CBD, low-THC strains have created some of “the best medicine” on the market through complicated chemistry.
With a plethora of sunny, high-definition bud shots and a narrative advancing progressive ideologies, “The Cannabis Chemist” illustrates how acceptance of marijuana is gaining traction with traditional media outlets — and profiles an often-overlooked cannabis career in cannabis chemistry.
