Recipe: Harlequin Grand Marnier Egg Nog
Even if you’re curled up next to the fireplace wrapped in a fur blanket in a state of contentment, this drink surely will make those Christmas lights even more enjoyable.
Nothing says Christmas like a nice glass of freshly prepared eggnog after an extravagant holiday supper. Languidly sitting around the dining room table laughing with family as the desserts roll out, makes this drink the perfect nightcap.
Harlequin breeder Mr. Green said that the strain’s effects were akin to a “warm, glowy feeling that radiates from within,” which I think is exactly what one needs after a Christmas day feast. Harlequin boasts very therapeutic medicinal applications, which make it a favorite for those of the medical marijuana community. When combined with Grand Marnier, becoming cross-faded does not become uncomfortable, but rather, welcoming. This drink will help you slip into a state of total relaxation and peace. Happy Holidays!
Mise en Place:
3 eggs
2 cups heavy cream
1/2 cup Grand Marnier or (1/4 cup Grand Marnier & 1/4 cup Brandy)
1/4 cup sugar
4 tablespoons vanilla extract
4 cinnamon sticks
2 tablespoons Harlequin (flushed with molasses) cannabutter*
1 teaspoon nutmeg
2 teaspoons allspice
1/2 teaspoon clove
Directions:
Step 1: In a saucepan on the lowest setting combine the Grand Marnier, Brandy, Harlequin cannabutter, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until the cannabutter has melted.
Step 2: Now add the nutmeg, 1 teaspoon of allspice and clove to the pan and continue to heat this mixture for 15 minutes on the lowest setting.
Step 4: In a stand mixer combine the sugar and eggs.
Step 5: When the 15 minutes is over, slowly add the liquid mixture to the eggs. Do it slowly as to temper the eggs, otherwise it will curdle. Whip on low until a soft peaks forms.
Step 6: Add the mixture back in the pan on the lowest setting. Constantly whisk the mixture until the drink becomes thick, about 4-5 minutes.
Step 7: Pour into 4 glasses and sprinkle the remaining allspice on top of the drinks. Add a cinnamon stick to each glass and enjoy! You can also chill in advance before serving.
Dosage:
Harlequin THC content tests around 7 percent with CBD also at 7 percent. If one gram of Harlequin tests at 7 percent THC, 7 percent of 1,000 mg would be 70 mg. Sub the number of your THC percentage and do the math to figure out your desired dosage per tablespoon for your method of making cannabutter. As it stands, each glass would contain 35 mg of THC. If you want a smaller dose in this recipe, cut the cannabis down to a smaller portion. If you want a larger dose, add the amount you desire. Tailor the drink to fit your needs or your guests needs. Enjoy responsibly.
Additional Strain Suggestions:
I would recommend any strains whose terpenes would compliment the hashy candied citrus flavors. Citrus Kush, Burmese Kush, and California Orange are all great choices. Be creative and have fun with it.
