Recipe: Agent Orange Peppermint Sugar Cookies
These cookies pack a delicious buttery sweet chewy goodness that melds beautifully on your tongue when coupled with the cool peppermint candy.
A phase seemed to echo through my head when I came with this festive and delicious cookie for the holiday season, “This year, Christmas will be ours!” “The Nightmare Before Christmas” has always been in my top 10 favorite movies of all time, and I thought it would be proper to create a cookie inspired by the movie.
The reason why I paired Agent Orange with these two flavors originates from a childhood memory. Have you ever stuck a peppermint straw into the center into a ripe orange? If you roll an orange around on the counter with your hand to release the juices then stick a peppermint straw through it, you can drink the juice. This trick was something my father showed me and, to this day, if I can find those candy canes, I will stick them into the closest orange I can find. The flavor combination is absolutely delicious! I figured if this blend always tasted amazingly good, so would adding Agent Orange into the sugar cookies.
I was correct. The citrus and deep orange rind flavor of the Agent Orange exalts the sweet, yet buttery cookie base and pairs beautifully on the pallet with the peppermint. These cookies make great gifts, party favors, and additions to buffet and dessert tables, for your friends, yourself and of course, Sandy Claws. Happy holidays!
Mise en place:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup pastry flour
1 cup Agent Orange cannabutter at room temperature (3.5 grams)
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup crushed candy canes (more or less depending on your taste)
5 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon sea salt
Directions:
Step 1: In a bowl combine the sugar, butter and extracts. Now add in the flours, crushed candy canes, baking soda and sea salt.
Step 2: Stir until well combined then stir in the milk. Continue to combine the ingredients until the mixture turns into a soft dough.
Step 3: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and chill the dough while the oven warms.
Step 4: Divide the dough into 15 servings then place the it on a non-stick cookie sheet.
Step 5: Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges are lightly brown. Transfer to a cooling rack until the cookies cool down then serve. This recipe will yield 15 large Agent Orange peppermint sugar cookies.
Dosage:
Agent Orange’s THC content tests around 25%. If one gram of Agent Orange tests at 25% THC, twenty percent of 1,000 mg would be 250 mg. Substitute the number of your THC percentage and do the math to figure out your desired dosage per tablespoon for your method of making cannabutter. As it stands, each cookie would contain 41.7 mg of THC. If you want a smaller dose in this recipe, cut the cannabis down to a smaller portion. If you want a larger dose, add the amount you desire. Or cut the cookies in half to yield 30 cookies instead of 15. Tailor the dose to fit your needs.
Strain Suggestions:
I would recommend any strains whose terpenes would compliment the citrusy orange rind and spice flavors. Orange Kush, Orange Sherbert, and California Orange are great choices. Be creative and have fun with it!
