Marijuana Business Conference & Expo Set for Florida
Set for May 9 – 11 in Orlando, Florida the event promises to bring together more than 3,000 industry executives, experts and major investors “ready to meet the needs of the many emerging markets.”
When cannabis business dropped down on Las Vegas this Fall the turnout was exceptional and this Spring the Marijuana Business Conference and Expo hopes to build on that momentum with an event in the Sunshine State.
The MJBIZ Con event comes at an interesting time in Florida’s history. While the state suffered a heartbreaking loss, failing to pass a medical marijuana amendment in 2014 with 57.4 percent of a needed 60 percent vote of approval, a new reiteration of Amendment 2 is now back. Although similar, the new measure differs in that it further defines what debilitating influences, and supporters are hopeful it will pass via the ballot box this November. A 2014 poll showed that 88 percent of Florida voters support legalizing medical marijuana.
The upcoming conference will include a presentation from Chuck Underwood, star of the PBS miniseries “America’s Generations,” discussing the generational engagement strategies for the cannabis industry as well as a keynote address from John Morgan. Morgan, an attorney from the Morgan & Morgan firm, spent millions on the 2014 campaign to legalize medical marijuana in Florida and continues to be a major proponent of legalization in the state.
