Buzzing in the Marijuana Industry: Innovation
The marijuana industry is the next major bubble. What used to be a shady underground industry has evolved into one of the most exciting investment opportunities in modern times. With so many companies and products out there, it can be difficult to tell who’s who. Keep a look out for these upcoming cannabis-based companies specializing in innovation:
Cannabis Commodities Exchange
Leafly is a database of marijuana information. WeedMaps is the Yelp of cannabis. The Cannabis Commodities Exchange will track prices, product inventories, and laws across Colorado. Their focus on big data is drawing interest from major tech giants.
Run by an attorney and software developer, The Cannabis Commodities Exchange is poised to become a major player in the legal industry. With the ability to track historical data and an emphasis on their database structure, they’ve laid a solid foundation to draw angel investors and other financial interest.
MarQaha
Authorities are cracking down on the edibles market, fearing deceptive packaging may lure children under the age of 18 to purchase such products. MarQaha, makers of drinks, mists, “TincSures”, hemp-based products and more, is prepared for such inevitabilities, offering a simple design, great branding, and easy-to-read ingredients on their packaging
Each MarQaha product is bright and easily identifiable, similar to a Sobe or Fuze, although clearly labeled as a dosed product. Their Lemonade Black Tea drink received recognition at the 2014 High Times Cannabis Cup, and other flavors include Fruit Punch, Orange Crush Creamsicle, Pomegranate, and Mint Green Tea, each labeled with an inkblot butterfly identifying their effects.
Infuzionz
Alan Mann, the Edibles Manager at Infuzionz, has created an exquisite selection of designer chocolate edibles. These artistically crafted Belgian chocolate designs melt in your mouth and have none of the marijuana aftertaste present in many edibles on the market. This is because Mann’s team focuses on creating delicacies prior to infusing them with medical cannabis.
A partnership with GFarmaLabs, GStiks, and Liquid Gold Extracts give Infuzionz a strong foothold in the edibles market. Every product is extensively tested and ingredients are clearly listed on the designer packaging. Patients with a taste for the finer things in life will enjoy the Infuzionz experience.
Boveda
You know those silica gel packets you find in beef jerky? They’re designed to absorb any moisture to keep the smoked meat from growing mold or bacteria. Boveda (formerly Humidipak) has patented a similar pack that provides 2-way protection.
This means that it adds or subtracts humidity based on the relative humidity in the air. When placed in a storage container with overly dry herbs, the Boveda pack adds moisture, renewing freshness. When used with freshly cut buds, the packs absorb moisture, speeding up the drying process.
