Seattle Police Plan to Hand Out Doritos at Hempfest

When the world’s largest gathering of of marijuana activists convenes in Seattle this weekend the local police will be waiting, with Doritos.

“Please ignore maliciously false reports that we’re giving out Bugles at @seattlehempfest .We would never, ever do that,” the Seattle Police Department posted on its Twitter feed. “Yes, we will be @seattlehempfest. But we’ll be giving out @Doritos & #Marijwhatnow literature.”

Police Department Spokesman Sgt. Sean Whitcomb explained to The Stranger that labels placed the chips will direct festival goers to Marijwhatnow? a guide to legal cannabis use in Seattle.

“Distributing salty snacks at a festival celebrating hemp, I think, is deliberately ironic enough that people will accept them in good humor,” Whitcomb told The Stranger. “We want to make sure people learn the rules and that they respect the vote.”
