Take Off With Moon Edibles

These chocolates and chewy candies provide a strong and spacey high.

There’s currently a big push for smaller doses of THC in cannabis-infused edibles and for good reason, as ingesting too much THC can make people feel the opposite of relaxed. On the other hand, some people are quite comfortable with the effects of a strong edible and are searching for that trippy head space. Moon, an edibles brand under the umbrella of the California cannabis company Indus Holdings, is embracing that second type of edibles enthusiast with a line of chocolates available in California.

The Moon line includes several chocolate bars in flavors such as Spaceman Mint and Cosmic Cappuccino, as well as a line of rounded pieces of chocolate-covered chewy candy and a disposable vape pen. All the edible offerings contain 10 mg doses for a total of 100 mg of THC per pack or bar, and they come on a bit strong. This means these chocolates are great for chilling out, managing body pain or eating before bed to get a good night’s rest. For the unexperienced, ingesting even 10 mg of edibles can feel like a high dose, so we recommend first testing these out during adventures around the house.

The branding on these edibles is otherworldly, which seems appropriate given marijuana’s ability to free people from the constraints of the day-to-day grind. The packaging art on a Moon Berry Blaster depicts an astronaut floating in space against a silhouette of the moon. The blasters are a chewy candy, with a similar texture to Cherry Sours candy, colored blue and dipped in milk chocolate. Eating a 10 mg dose of these blasters feels a bit like sinking into the comfort of a warm bath as the cannabis takes hold and relaxes the body.

A bite of the Spaceman Mint bar tastes like the Andes Crème de Menthe chocolates that some restaurants offer after a meal. The chocolate itself tastes high-quality — moon sources it from Guittard Chocolate, a company that started in San Francisco in 1868 — and because the edible uses cannabis concentrates refined into a distillate, there’s no herbaceous weedy flavor.

Mentally stepping away from worries or tasks is a blessing that having an edible at the end of a hard workday can provide. Moon edibles are made for those imaginative souls who find freedom with their heads in the clouds.
