Brazil Approves Hemp-Derived CBD Imports for Cancer-Related Treatments

Since 2014, Brazil has approved government-subsidized payments of CBD medication for the three medical ailments of epilepsy, chronic pain and Parkinsons.

Research has shown that the compound CBD, which is naturally found in cannabis, has an array of positive health effects, including protection against cancer, anti-inflammatory properties, relief from Crohn’s disease and rheumatoid arthritis and reduction of nausea and anxiety.

The decision by the Brazilian government to allow the import of CBD for medical necessities signals the continued acceptance of cannabis as a medicine to heal the infirmed. With this decision, all signs point to the continued wave of anti-prohibition sentiment sweeping the globe, with the likely and advantageous outcome of improving public health and advancing economies.

“Cannabis has been prescribed for many years in the U.S. for post-chemotherapy patients [dealing with] pain, nausea and depression,” says Titus. “It is a natural, botanical product with nominal side effects compared to the use of pharmaceutical drugs.”

Over the past decade, the U.S has seen a steady increase in the use of cannabis as a medicine. In Latin America, progressive political inclinations have helped to transform an illegal narco-economy into a government-sanctioned drug system, beginning with medical and recreational cannabis programs developing in Uruguay and many other Latin countries in the southern hemisphere.

“We have the utmost respect for the Brazilian government that decided hemp CBD oil should be available to their people,” says Titus. “Medical Marijuana Inc. is actively working with other governments to also make hemp CBD products available.
