Cannabis activists in California continue pushing the limitations surrounding open public consumption, as demonstrated in a bowling after-party for the State of Marijuana conference.

Held at the Lucky Strike in Hollywood, the after hours event included a smoking patio, where medical marijuana patients were able to take puffs of their free O.penVAPE vaporizer pen. Attendees of the event included many of the panelists from the conference earlier in the day, which examined both the political and profitable sides of cannabis as both a movement and an industry.

“There has never been a cannabis consumption event held on any property at Hollywood and Highland until last Saturday night and what an event it was,” cannabis advocacy group C.A.R.E. reported.

C.A.R.E.’s Executive Director Susan Soares said when she initially contacted the bowling alley to host the party the managers and property owners were hesitant.

“They thought that it was illegal to have any consumption on site,” Soares said, adding that by the time she got the go-ahead to host the cannabis party, both the Lucky Strike manager and sales director came out and gave her a huge hug.

Lucky Strike waitresses at the event served up trays of Granny Greenleaf’s red velvet cakes to all medical patients present. Attendees were also given Bhang bars to sample. When questioned, bartender said with a smile that he had been given the correct work assignment and Soares reported the servers all had fun, as no one at the event was drunk or belligerent.
