Two of Montana Cannabis’ Partners Sentenced to Probation

Probation for Daubert and Lindsey; Williams to be sentenced Feb. 1st

The first sentences in the case of Montana Cannabis, a model dispensary formed in the wake of Montana’s 2004 medical marijuana law, have been handed down.  A federal judge in Missoula has sentenced Chris Lindsey and Tom Daubert, two of Montana Cannabis’ four partners, to probation.

Chris Williams, another partner who had formerly refused all plea deals with federal prosecutors, has now accepted a post-conviction plea bargain which reduces his sentence from life imprisonment to as few as five years.  The fourth partner, Richard Flor, died in federal prison in August.

The four dispensary operators, who famously took local law enforcement on tours of their facility to demonstrate its regulatory compliance, were arrested in 2011 as part of a federal crackdown that attacked dispensaries throughout the state.  The story of their former success and subsequent arrests was the subject of the 2012 documentary “Code of the West.”
