Recipe: Dairy-Free Canna-Coconut Milk

This simple recipe is very easy to master and is great to have in your arsenal of medicating skills.

Recipes for canna-milk are a popular request for budding cannabis cooks and enthusiasts at home. Canna-milk is one of the most basic recipes you can create that has many versatile applications. You can use this canna-coconut milk on your cereal, in your tea, as creamer for your coffee, in a vegan cream sauce, or for various baking applications. You can also pair this recipe with a heavy indica and drink a warm cup of this milk before bed to induce peaceful sleep. One should always have this wonderful drink as a staple in their ganja kitchen as the uses for it are limitless.

Mise en place:

1 gallon vanilla or plain coconut milk
1 gram decarbed kief
Fine mesh strainer
Double boiler

Directions:

Step 1: Decarb your kief. Preheat your oven to 220 degrees F. Take a baking sheet and line it with parchment paper that will not burn in the oven. Very carefully sprinkle the kief onto the sheet making sure that it is evenly disbursed. Place the baking sheet into the oven uncovered and heat for 25 minutes. Pull the baking sheet from the oven, and let it cool completely. Be very careful when removing it from the pan. You now have decarboxylated or “activated” medical kief that is ready for consumption.

Step 2: In a large double boiler on the lowest setting, add the vanilla or plain coconut milk and kief. Gently stir with a spoon to incorporate all of the cannabis into your milk of choice.

Step 3: Let this mixture heat on the very lowest setting for 1 hour. During this one hour process, you need to monitor the mixture to make sure the sides do not scald. A skin or raft will form in the center of the milk as it infuses.

Step 4: When 1 hour is up, place a fine mesh strainer over a container of choice and strain the canna-coconut milk to separate the raft. The best container to use would be glass.

Step 5: Drink warm or chill in an ice bath before placing the milk into the fridge. Be sure to stir the milk before serving.

Note:

Consume or cook/bake with this product within 3-4 days.

Dosage:

If one gram of kief tests at 50% THC,  50% THC of 1,000 mg would be 500mg. Sub the number of your THC percentage and do the math to figure out your dosing for the vegetable oil. Remember, this recipe yields 16 cups of canna-coconut milk, so be sure to dose accordingly. As it stands, each cup would contain 31.25 mg. If you want a smaller dose, cut the cannabis down to a smaller portion. If you want a larger dose, add the amount you desire.

Strain Suggestions:

I would recommend any strains whose terpenes would compliment the creamy coconut flavor. Strains that possess fruit, citrus, hash, chocolate, berry, and candy notes would pair best. Be creative and have fun with it!
